What could be better than picking up rubbish on a Sunday morning ? staying in bed and reading my book for one but alas the River Rats went down to the river and spent over 2 hours picking up a shameful amount of rubbish. We picked up all around the old railway bridge over and under, the rubbish mainly consisting of green cans.
Suzanne seems to always have fun. It was an overcast day and very humid only made bearable because the sun wasn't shining. The kids were good little workers and we only occasionally heard a " eewww what's that ? " they did get excited when they would find the rare coke can in amongst the sea of green cans.We kept the cans separate so they can be recycled, the VB company will go broke if the drinkers in Katherine ever stop drinking .
At the end of nearly 4 hours we were all hot and tired so it was time for a cold swim at the pool and a free lunch put on by the council.
