TE ANAU TO INVERCARGILL

Redcliffe wetlands, not far from Te Anau.
The drive to Invercargill only takes about an hour and a half but as usual it took me longer, from 8am to 1pm to be exact. I took side roads a lot and found lots of gems like the one above. I'm using the Navman that Ducks from Central Motors in Katherine lent me and it's fantastic, although the lady who lives inside it gets upset if i deviate from the route she has set...i can see us coming to blows soon !
which way will i go ?
this is called Monkey Island, you can only get to it at low tide and lucky for me it was low tide when i got there.
once in Invercargill i went to the info centre next to this park, Queens Park, and i used their internet and booked a great hotel through booking.com, very cheap and possibly the nicest place i've ever stayed anywhere, so i'm here for two nights.

i walked all around the park, it was just lovely. A cold breeze was blowing and the sun was out and just when i thought it couldn't get any better i came to the rose garden which made me gasp. Roses are my favourite flower and in front of me were thousands of them....i took lots of photo's.

Tomorrow i'm going to take a drive down to the Bluff, sort of like lands end, but first a sleep in.

thanks everyone for commenting, i am reading them. Thanks Clare, it's not hard to take good photos here, it's so beautiful. I will let you in on a secret...nearly every photo i take is crooked, i don't know how i do it but they are, i have downloaded Picasa3 and i straighten them before i put them here, so don't be too impressed !
the bed of red flowers in the pic above, are Geraniums....gorgeous.
Ciao from Invercargill.
