Day 6 and 7 catch up.
1st and 2nd January 2013
HAPPY NEW YEAR
This morning i was up before the sun and walking to Windsor train station to catch the train to Bath it was freezing and dark but lovely also. After changing trains at Slough and Reading i arrived in Bath around 10am to find a beautiful old town/city ? bathed in blue skies. It was bitterly cold but i had blue skies and sunshine. First off i checked into my gorgeous hotel then i set off and explored the Roman Baths, fantastic and mind blowing knowing you are walking where they walked, a thousand years ago, two ? after the baths i sat in a cornish pastry cafe and had a cornish pastry for lunch then i explored the Bath Cathedral, stunning. i have been in more churches in the last 6 days then i have in my life, the architecture and decor is just breath taking though. I spent the afternoon walking Bath. what a lovely historic, clean, friendly and easy to get around town..you cant get lost beacause the catherdral spire is the landmark. I really like Bath, its so picturesque, needless to say ive taken a few photos. The hotel im in is right next to the Avon river and was built in 1745, the top part that im in was built in the early 1800's my legs have had an additional workout..steps, my room is on the third floor and i counted 62 steps to my door, doesnt sound much but believe me it is hard yakka with a suitcase, coming down with the bag was comical, i was sliding it down the stairs and it picked up speed and i couldnt hold it.....it got to the bottom before i did , thank god no one saw.
My second day in Bath was spent riding the bus which took me on the scenic hill top ride, Bath is built into hills and from the top you get a fantastic view.
The weather on my second day in Bath was terrible, rain wind and freezing cold, but i soldiered on with a box of tissues, that wind makes your eyes water and nose run, forget make up.
Above is St Michaels of the wanting....love the way they named things over here.
Below is my hotel, very grand but cheap.
The river is up from all the rain, its been announced that 2012 has been the UK's wettest on record.
Ciao from Bath.
