This is the view from our room, its actually better than this. See the sun shining ?
Eating lunch and feeding the birds in San Marco piazza.
This was a fence around a nice fountain and attached to the fence were hundreds of padlocks, i'm assuming it's to do with good luck and love.
Street acts were all around the Duomo area and at first we thought they were statues till one blinked. Riley got struck with cupids arrow !
So did Mia
This is part of the Sunday markets in Feisole, a really lovely town, i bought some secondhand nick knacks here. i loved it.
Feisole
Riley is a hit with the birds
The absolutely beautiful Duomo in Florence, the people lined up stretched back at 500yds so we never did get inside.
One of the bridges across the Arno river.
Mia loves those pigeons, she is standing on the old bridge across the Arno.
We woke to sunshine, cold but sunny and because we shopped at the local supermarket last night we have food which we cooked for breakfast. We then walked the 15mins to the train station where we caught the hop on hop off bus to the hill top town above Florence, called Fiesole. The ride up is very steep and i had to keep going from one side of the bus to the other because i dont like being on the cliff side ! the view was gorgeous and you could see for miles around the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Once in the small town we wandered amongst the Sunday market stalls then walked the back streets to see how the locals live....again it was beautiful. We hopped back on the bus after about an hour or more of Fiesole and rode back down to San Marco piazza where we bought some food and sat feeding the birds and enjoying the scenery. Everything is so old and exactly how i hoped it would be. We walked for miles through windy narrow streets, forgetting all about the bus. Along the way we came across the Duomo which was stunning and ended up on the river Arno along with thousands of other people. So many people, mostly Italian just walking and sight seeing like us, thousands...its hard to describe the scene. The river Arno is the color of dirt and not impressive but the buildings lining it are. I took 415 photos but after deleting the rubbish i have 298...not a bad effort.
Tomorrow we are booked on a tour of Siena, Pisa and surrounding areas, it's a 12 hour tour, out of bed at 6am...that will be hard but it should be good.
Till then Ciao from Firenze

Hi guys
As I read your blog I am packing my bags to leave on Sunday - Warm jumpers are top of the list! Still no decent rain but I am glad you have had some sun at last. Have you learned any Italian yet? You will feel lost when you get back to Katherine when you are surrounded by space and no people. I am not looking forward to the crowds when I land. 4 days of school left. Take care
Christine
Lovely photos. I thnk I have read about that fence with the padlocks. People engrave names and lock it on the fence on their wedding or anniversay day. I remember because I thought it might be a good tourist attraction if we started it on the high level bridge. Scout break up tonight. Had the comando run at the pool. We were late so Mia missed having a go. She wasn't impresssed.
