DAY 5 WINDSOR 31.12.2012

This morning i walked into town early, a bit too early nothing was open so i walked around town until a cafe opened then i had some breaky. It drizzled rain all morning, as i sat i watched the streams of people pour out of the train station and head to the castle, they were tour groups with guides..hundreds of them. I made a move to the entrance paid my £17 and entered a different world. This world is filthy rich and full of customs and history going back hundreds of years.

The bag lady of Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle i found fascinating, beautiful, enormous, yet the state rooms that i went in had that lived in look and feel, its a working home and has a really nice feel to it.
Above is St Georges Chapel, it is part of the Castle and really beautiful inside. Inside i also saw the small chapel where the Queens parents and sister are buried.
After my walk around the Castle i came out had some lunch then walked to the start of the Long Walk which is 3 miles long. By this point the rain had turned up a notch but a few people were doing the walk so i started off. Above is a pic of the gates at the start of the walk with the castle in the back graound, this is the gate the family use to come and go.
I walked probably 500m short of the end but decided to turn back because it was dark and really raining and i was the only fool out there.
as you can see by the moss growing everywhere that its pretty damp
This is the Thames River here at Windsor, its very swollen from all the rain.
I love the swans. Tomorrow i'm off to Bath. My hotel here is really lovely, Victorian building with all the original features and only 10min walk to town and castle, Windsor Great Park and the Long Walk are across the road. Happy New Year.
